A year ago I started ‘X Favourites… Student Style.’ A round up of my favourite songs, TV shows, purchases etc in the previous month, all done on a student budget.
A year and one month ago I posted my last ‘X Favourites…Student Style.’ Despite a couple of posts sitting in my drafts for ages, I never got round to finishing them… or I’d just forget what I had enjoyed that month! University deadlines got so hectic I stopped noticing which month we were in!
This year I have decided to alter this slightly, because for the two that I posted I really enjoyed writing them but I clearly wasn’t brilliant at sticking to the schedule! I’ve decided to link this into my 2018 goals, so as well as talking about things I’ve liked that month I’m going to update you on my progress with these. Partly because I don’t want to write a post saying I completely failed so this should motivate me to stick to it. 😉
So without further ado, lets get into my ‘January Round-Up – Student Style’ (I’m working on the title)
The Greatest Showman
This film is hands down my new all time favourite. The songs are amazing, the acting is amazing and the story is amazing. I walked out of the cinema wanting to go straight back in and watch it again! If you haven’t seen it yet, you need too! And don’t be put off by the fact it’s a musical!
The Greatest Showman Soundtrack
Well, fairly self explanatory seeing as it is my new favourite film! I just feel that the songs just make you feel good and they are quite positive and catchy. Honestly I listen to them and just smile! Urgh what is this film doing to me!!!!
The Little Book of Hygge/The Little Book of Lykke
I love these books so much. They are written by Meik Wiking, CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Denmark. They look at what makes the Danish so happy, and how happiness is created around the world. It’s the sort of book that you need to curl up with a blanket and read, to help make you feel all fuzzy and warm inside.
Bath bombs in Lush sale
Thank you Lush January sale! I managed to get the Candy Mountain bubble bar and the Thunderstorm bath bomb for just £3.88, which pretty much worked out as two for the price of one. Won’t complain at those bargains. 😉 I love the smell of Candy Mountain so much, it’s definitely one of my favourites, however I’ve never used Thundersnow before so I’m looking forward to it!
Practise shorthand everyday
Well I nearly did it! There were a few days that I ended up not doing any practise but in my defence that was on days where I was ridiculously busy at university and didn’t feel like doing more work when I got home.
I did actually quite enjoy this goal, and I’m glad I did it because I have got a lot closer to my 100 words per minute goal. So I will definitely keep it up, maybe reduce it to every other day, because the sooner I pass the exam, the better!
Stick to a weekly meal plan
This one will be tricky, I am hopeless at planning meals so I’m hoping this will force me to do it properly! Ah well, wish me luck!
